How to pause publishing and billing for a workspace, and how it resumes.
Take a Break pauses a workspace without canceling it. Publishing stops, and for a workspace on its own Solo subscription, billing pauses too, so you aren't charged while you're not using it.
Discovery, drafting, autopilot, and the due publisher all skip a workspace that's on break. If the workspace carries its own Stripe subscription, that subscription's billing is paused for the same window, with no charge in the meantime. Nothing about your site, your brand voice, or your article history changes. Everything picks back up exactly where it left off.
You can take a break for 2 or 4 weeks at a time.
You can take up to 4 breaks in any rolling 12-month window. Only the workspace owner can start or resume one, from the Take a Break card on your Your Site page, which also shows how many breaks you have left.
A break ends automatically at the end of the window you chose. Publishing and billing both resume on their own, with nothing for you to do. If you're ready sooner, you can resume early from the same screen.
If your workspace is part of an Agency account, a break still pauses that workspace's publishing, but it never touches billing. Agency billing is one shared subscription across every client, and pausing it would stop billing for every other client too. See Agency billing for how that consolidated plan works.
Tip: You'll see a banner while a break is active, plus your remaining break count, right on the Take a Break card. You don't need to remember when it ends.
