What HarperFlow checks when it explains why a published item isn't showing up in your sitemap.

July 11, 2026

If an article looks published but isn't showing up where you'd expect, HarperFlow can check the actual item on your site and tell you exactly why. Find it on the Articles page: open a published article and click Is it live & findable? to run the check against your live site.

The possible results

  • Published and sitemap-eligible: the item is live, published, and there's nothing blocking it from appearing in your sitemap.
  • Draft: the item exists but has never been published; drafts are never sitemap-eligible.
  • Archived: the item was archived, which removes it from your live site and its sitemap.
  • Staged, not yet published: the item was created or updated but hasn't had a publish step run yet, so it's sitting ready rather than live.
  • Blocked by an indexing field: a field on the item itself, something like a "no-index" toggle, an "exclude from search" flag, or a similar indexing switch, is turned on and is telling your site to leave it out.

What to do for each

For a draft or staged item, publish it (or wait for HarperFlow's own publish step to run, if it's a scheduled article waiting on its window). For an archived item, unarchive it if you want it live again. For an item blocked by an indexing field, check that specific field on the item. It may have been set by a platform default, a theme setting, or another integration rather than anything HarperFlow did. None of these mean the article itself was lost or needs rewriting.

Tip: This check reads your site's actual live field data at the moment you run it, not a cached copy, so the result reflects reality right now rather than what things looked like the last time HarperFlow synced.
